She was predeceased by: her father Jay Pompey; her husbands, Joseph Alexander, Richard Smith and Garfield Stovall; her son Charles Alexander; her stepson Clinton Richmond; and her siblings, Christine Phillips, Iva Jay Modisette and James Pompey.
She is survived by: her children, James Alexander (Paula) of Syracuse, NY, Calvin Alexander (Janett) of Chase City, VA, Josephine Alexander and Faye Coleman (Claude) of Richmond, VA; her brother Vernon Jay Pompey (Selma) of Gastonia, NC; her daughter-in-law Joyce Alexander; and her siblings-in-law, Viola McFail, Selma Pompey and Elijah Phillips. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren.
