He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruby Claiborne Tolbert and Ottis Louis Tolbert; and his brothers, James Lambert, Robert Lambert and Garland Tolbert.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Card Tolbert; his children, Tasha Bruce (Anthony) and Jeffery Tolbert (Ashley); his grandchildren, Matthew Bruce, Savanna Bruce, Lilith Tolbert and Raymond; his father-in-law Alfred Card; and his siblings-in-law, Jane Card, Helen Hite and Walter Card. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
