She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Lester Washington, Sr. and Thelma P. Washington of Crozet; her husband Raymond N. Shackelford, Jr.; and her siblings, Denton G. Washington, Emmett Lester Washington, Jr. and Vivian W. Meads.
She is survived by: her children, Valerie Johnson of Columbia, Renae N. Saunders (James) of Bare and David J. Shackelford, Sr.; her grandchildren, Shameera Carr, Shamica Cooper, Monica McDonald, Dorian, Johnson, David Shackelford, Jr., Marquita Dukes and LaToya Shackelford; her sisters-in-law, Constance Washington of Largo and Connie Shackelford of Charlottesville, Virginia.; her close friends, Nancy Allen and Mary-Anne Henley; and her son Wesley Ivory.
The lying in state will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel (108 6th St NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903). A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church (105 Lankford Ave, Charlottesville, VA 22902).
