We bid farewell to Walter Dabney Via of Charlottesville, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 7, 2024 at the age of 90. Walter Dabney touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Via and Lottie Sandridge Via; his wife Nancy Funkhouser Via; and his siblings, Allen, Anne Via Wayland, Nancy Via Shipp and Beverly Via Wagner.
He is survived by: his children, Beth Via Hawkey of Burlington, NC and David S. Via (Mary-Elizabeth James) of Crozet, VA; and his grandchildren, Michael Hawkey (Kaitlin), Andrew Hawkey (Lizz), W. Douglas Via and Elizabeth Via Finlay (Hocquard). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
