He was predeceased by: his mother Maude Smith; his wife Kathy Jones Smith; and his siblings, Ronald Smith, Barbara Smith and Donna Lewis.
He is survived by: his brothers, Randall (Faye) of Charlottesville, William (Betty) of Brookneal and James (Sherry) of Yorktown. He is also survived by three stepsons, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins.
