He was predeceased by: his father Dr. Walter Copley; and his sister Patricia Ann McLean. He is survived by: his mother Margaret Kleppinger McLean; his wife Caroline Wilson McLean; his children, Wilson Copley McLean and Margaret McLean (Meg); his grandchildren, Coco and Henry; his daughter Elizabeth McLean Hughes (Reagen); his grandchildren, Harrison, Wilson and Poppy; and his siblings, Dr. W. Copley McLean Jr. (Merri), Mark Andrew McLean (Ann), Peter Kleppinger McLean (Carol Ann), Martha McLean Rodgers (Brad) and Christopher Laubach McLean (Ashley). He is also survived by his wife of 44 years, his children, and his grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews.
