It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Francis DeMong of Charlottesville, Virginia, born in Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on August 5, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice DeMong and Jane DeMong; his former wives, Linda Krongaard DeMong and Sue Ann DeMong; and his brother Maurice DeMong.
He is survived by: his children, Kathleen Suzanne "Suzie" Odell (George), Michael Scott Krongaard, Cheryl "Cheri" DeMong Hubbard (Thomas) and Lynn Ann Waidelich (David); his fiancée Adele "Hutch" Livingston; his grandchildren, Emily Odell Kirven (Blake), Linda "Blake" Krongaard, Garrett Joseph Odell, Michael "Mikey" Joseph Krongaard, Mary Jo Krongaard, Catherine Jane DeMong Hubbard, Marian "Claire" DeMong Hubbard, Matthew Barrett Waidelich, Andrew "Drew" Thomas DeMong Hubbard, Mary Elizabeth Waidelich and Daniel Richard Waidelich; his siblings, Robert DeMong and Cheri Teale (Peter); his sister-in-law Mary Gould-DeMong; and his nephew Michael DeMong.

Gifts made in memory of Rich at the McIntire School of Commerce Foundation will support the Alice V. Griffin Bicentennial Scholars Fund, which provides scholarships to McIntire students with financial need.
