She was predeceased by: her husband John Leroy Carter; her parents, Martin A Howard and Estelle P Carter Howard; and her siblings, Helen Carry, Virginia Scott, Catherine Jones, Arthur Howard, James Carter and Marshall Howard.

She is survived by: her children, Estelle N. Fortune, James Fortune, John Green, Robert Green, Albert Green, Jason Scott and Ricky Carey. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
