Hammel IV of Charlottesville, Virginia, born in Brooklyn, New York, who passed away on June 9, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia M. Hammel; and his parents, Marjorie V. Hammel (Prenderville) and George F. Hammel. He is survived by: his children, George V (Rose) of Temecula, CA, James of Black Mountain, NC, Kevin (Karen), Maureen Chandler (Peter II) of Earlysville, VA and John (Susan Tuccio Hammel) of Hingham, MA.; his grandchildren, George Hammel VI, Sarah Hammel, Jarryd Hammel, Erik Hammel, Christy Harty (Rob), Peter Chandler III (Katie), Ben Chandler (Sandi), Michael Chandler (Erin), John Chandler (Charlotte) and Steven Chandler (Hana Lagana); his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Tuccio (Shelby), Alex Tuccio (Shannon McGregor) and Hunter Tuccio (Emily Reed); his great grandchildren, Grace, Abby, Collin Harty, Claire, Olivia, Henley, Julia, Henry, Jack Chandler and Mia Tuccio; and his siblings, Valerie, Virginia, Kathleen, Margot, Brian and John. He is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.
