He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Yancey Birckhead; and his grandson Reed Birckhead. He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Breeden, Stan Birckhead (Susan) and Stuart Birckhead (Rosemary). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home - Charlottesville Chapel (201 1st St S, Charlottesville, VA 22902). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
