He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Johnson and Malie Dawson Johnson; his wife Shirley Ann Henson; his sons, Tony and Mike (Mike); and his siblings, Eva, Sallie, Lucy, Sadie, Annie, George, Collie, Richard and William.
He is survived by: his children, Greg (Greg), Charlotte Robinson and Sharon "Roc" Jones (Melvin); his grandchildren, Jermaine, Gregory, Maurice, Kevin, Brittany, Brandon, Melvin (Miko) and Dana; and his siblings-in-law, Lindsay Johnson, Elstoria Johnson, Jesteane Ragland (Owen), Barbara Jordan, Lawrence Henson (Priscilla) and Darnell Henson (Leslie). He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
