He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Gordon Gilliam Sr. and Laura Edmondston Venning. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Scott Gilliam; his sons, Alexander G. Gilliam III (Renee Schacht) and John Bolling Gilliam (Erin); his grandchildren, John Gilliam, Virginia Gilliam, Jackson Gilliam, Quinlan Gilliam and Alexander G. Gilliam IV (Scout); his sister Laura Edmondston Gilliam; his siblings-in-law, Mildred and Joseph Herget; and his friend Sandy.
