He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom William Spencer, Sr. and Margaret Johnson Spencer; and his siblings, Robert Spencer, John Spencer, Annie, Anna Spencer and Helen Neal.

He is survived by: his wife Jannie; his children, Vanessa Spencer of Baltimore, MD, Marcy Crank (Daron) of Baltimore, MD, Amanda Hurt (Timothy) of Chester, VA, Tom Spencer III of Ohio, James Henry of Farmville, Lorenzo (Shelly) of Farmville, Lamont (Sandra) of Farmville and Carlos of New Jersey; and his sister Christina Hodge. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
