He was predeceased by: his father Byron M. Shorter; and his brother James N. Shorter. He is survived by: his daughters, Samantha Smith (Neil) and Tabitha Shorter (Joey); his grandchildren, Kenneth Smith, Kynslei Smith, Scarlett Gibson, Berkleigh Gibson, Kadence Smith and Granger Gibson; his mother Shirley Shorter; his siblings, Timothy Shorter, Debbie Barksdale (Kevin), Dawn Shorter, Donna Lacks (Steven) and Dana Shorter (Will); his cousin Hope Brown (Robert); and his close friend Judy Gibson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
