He is survived by: his wife Vera Kay Dodd Hamlett; his children, Gilbert P. Hamlett Jr., Christopher M. Hamlett and Deborah Kay Cauthen (Landis) of Montgomery, Ala.; his grandchildren, Shelby L. Cauthen III, Zachery H. Cauthen and Cassidy Kay Cauthen; and his siblings, Emmitt T. Hamlett, William Hunter Hamlett of Bedford and Linda Arlene Wright (James) of Lynchburg.
