He was predeceased by: his siblings, Andrew and Catherine. He is survived by: his children, Iris McRae (Juan), Tisha Cary (Juanita) and Christopher Cary; his siblings, Hancy Hatchett, Grace Woodley and Gladys Bartlett-Johnson; his sibling-in-law Alleana Jefferson; his nieces, Barbara Jefferson, Joyce Ashlock and Phyllis Wallace; his nephew William Woodley; and his friend Kathy Mouton. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was employed by Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a bus driver for several years.
