It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles C. Spruell Sr. of Charles City, Virginia, who passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Spruell and Melvina Spruell; his siblings, Willie Rogers Spruell Sr. and Estelle Francis Shepperd; and his son-in-law Robert Fitzgerald Sr..
He is survived by: his wife Lue Elizabeth Spruell; his children, Vanessa B. Spruell-Fitzgerald of Williamsburg, VA, Sherby-Jean Coles (John) of Charles City, VA, Nicole Michelle Watts (Allester "Apollo") of Prince George, VA and Charles C. Spruell Jr. "June" of Charles City, VA; and his sister Mary Johnson (James). He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many caring friends.

Charles worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for twenty-eight years as a horticulturist providing extensive knowledge of trees, flowers, vegetables, nuts, bushes, and fruits.
