He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances V. Smith (Gansor) and Benjamin M. Smith. He is survived by: his son Christopher J. Murphy; and his siblings, Charles J. Smith (Kathy) of Rixeyville, VA, Kimberly J. Whetzel of Toms Brook, VA, Robin L. Masiello (Bob) of Front Royal, VA and Cathy J. Richards of Bealeton, VA.. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews.
