He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Mawhinney and Erma Mawhinney (Little); and his brother Rodney. He is survived by: his wife Tracy Mawhinney (Skaw); and his sisters, Sheila Abe of Flintstone and Connie Longerbeam of Harpers Ferry, WV.. He is also survived by children but he had two nephews and three nieces.
