He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Luke Patrick Layne and Lillian Edwards Layne; his wife Hilah Vaughan Layne; his children, Amity Layne of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Tara Maxwell (Robert) of Raleigh and Luke Layne (Renia) of Belfast, Virginia; his siblings, Patricia Kita (John), Rose Covert (Jeff) of Florida and Peter Layne (Alice) of Rockley; and his grandchildren, Lillian Maxwell, Pierce Maxwell, Isaac Maxwell, Mila Layne and Brexlee Kate Layne.
