He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Nelson Smith, Sr. and Altha Marlow Smith; and his sister Louise Mullins. He is survived by: his close friend Gail Haywood Rakes; his daughter Kelli Smith of Claypool Hill, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Zach Smith and Zoe Smith.
