He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Wallace Smith and Bendi Susie Smith; his former wife Rhoda Mae Smith (Viola); his son Dennis Wayne Smith; and his siblings, Farley Smith, Crobbie Smith, Wallace Smith, Jr., Robert Keith Smith and Peggy Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Smith; his children, Susie Vance (Bill), Thomas Smith (Michelle), Betsy Silcox (Lucky), Donna Greene, Mary Gross (Allen), Charlotte Honaker and Lacey Smith (Jessica); his daughter-in-law Pat Smith; and his sisters, Bonnie Proffitt and Mollie Williams (Babe). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
