She was predeceased by: her parents, Emory Lawrence Joyce and Mary Magdalen Joyce (Boyd); her former husband William Burl Hicks; her husband Ernest B Ison; her daughter Virginia; her siblings, Barbara, Raymond (Gladys), Ralph (Delores), Ronald and Dennis (Betty); and also Emory, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Harold G. Hicks (Yeoungson Lim), Judy K. Hicks (Allen Dye), Larry R. Hicks (Althea) and Marybeth Hicks; her grandsons, Benjamin W. Hicks, Zachary C. Tyndall, Joshua R. Hicks, Cory B. Hicks and Kevin; her great grandchildren, Maggie Tyndall, Jace Hicks, Tatum Hicks and Keegan Tyndal; her sister Linda "Susie" (David); and her sister-in-law Ruby Joyce.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
