He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Henry Dodson and Vennie Florence Clark Dodson; his granddaughter Grace Embrey Dodson; and his siblings, Mary Frances Gentry, Anne Jenkins, Barbara Berry, Milton Henry Dodson, Jr. and William B. Dodson.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Embrey Dodson; his children, Karen Dodson Whitman of Catlett, VA and John Michael Dodson (Kelly) of Wake Forest, NC; his grandchildren, Hanna Rose Whitman of King George, VA, Aaron Michael Dodson, Cumberland, MD, Timothy Joel Dodson and Jared Embrey Dodson; his great grandchild Caiden James Whitman; and his sisters, Lucille Atkins of Culpeper, VA, Shirley Dodson (Buddy) of Sperryville, Lillian Jenkins and Betty Keys.
