He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Powers and Marie Rasnake Powers; his daughter Glenda Powers Johnson; his brother John Harvey Powers; his mother-in-law Maggie Duncan; and his siblings-in-law, Peg Puckett, Vonda Stevens and Charles "Dick" Proxmire.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Duncan Powers; his children, Melissa Woody of Bristol, Virginia and Brian Powers (Mary) of Castlewood, Virginia; his grandchildren, Nathan Johnson (Valerie) of Castlewood, Virginia, Madison Woody of Bristol and Laken Gibson of Castlewood, Virginia; his great grandchildren, Addie Brooke Johnson, Madilynn Riggs, Jada King and Dylan King; his siblings, Kay Whitaker (Wayne) of Castlewood, Eudine "Ellie" Proxmire of Lebanon, Virginia, Vernon Powers (Joyce) and David Powers (Elizabeth); and his uncle Harold Rasnake (Susie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.
Due to COVID-19, the family requests those attending the Visitation and Services to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
