It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray Richardson of Castlewood, Virginia, born in Coeburn, Virginia, who passed away on December 10, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel C. Richardson and Inous Gouge Richardson; his wife Thelma Richardson; his daughter Libby McCoy Swift; and his daughter-in-law Jill Clay.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shirley True (Fred) of Richmond and Janet Epperly (Norman) of Christiansburg, Virginia; his stepson Don Clay of Petersburg, Virginia; his grandson Stevie McCoy of Ocala, Florida; and his sisters, Nancy Whitt of Richmond, Elaine Kennedy of Rocky Mount and Betty Foster of Mussey, Michigan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, Funeral Services for Ray Richardson will be conducted at 1:00 p. m. Monday, December 14, 2020, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Travis Price officiating.
