He was predeceased by: his parents, G. A. Benton and Lori Love Whitaker Benton; and his wife Marjorie Louise Dean Benton of Dante. He is survived by: his son James Edward Benton (Michelle); his grandchildren, Sydney Louise Benton and Charles Thayer Benton (Rielly Stratton); and his great grandchild Atlas Jac Benton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
