It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald D. Smith (Castlewood, Virginia), born in Lebanon, Virginia, who passed away on December 18, 2021, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie P. Smith and Mary Ellen Fields Smith; and his siblings, Lee, Junior, Carl, George Smith, Lena Beth, Agnes, Lora and Carol.

He is survived by: his wife Linda J. Smith; his son Matthew Smith (Brittany) of St. Paul, Virginia; his grandchildren, Douglas Cole Smith, Alexis Leigh Smith, Mason Allen Smith and Brooklyn Grace Smith; and his children, Brian, Brenda and Amanda. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
