She was predeceased by: her parents, Mitchell McCoy and Mattie Lou Carty McCoy; her husband Hermon E. Brooks, Sr.; her son Hermon Brooks, Jr.; and her brother Adam McCoy.

She is survived by: her children, Christine Brooks Hylton, Randy Brooks (Felicia) and James Brooks (Beth); and her siblings, Mary McCoy Breeding (Stan), Lola McCoy Grizzle and Clyde McCoy (Barbara). She is also survived by six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
