He was predeceased by : his parents, Jeremiah Lewis, Sr. and Bessie Ferguson Lewis; and his siblings, Herbert, Herman, George, Jerry, Jr., Jake Lewis, Virginia Spires and Jessie Carter.
He is survived by : his sons, Ray Lewis (Pam) of Cascade, VA and James "Poet" Lewis, Jr. (Sheila) of Danville, VA; his grandchildren, Travis Lewis, Brandi Lewis Sparks (Jacob), Amelia Lewis Nelson (Justin), Austin Lewis and Parker Lewis; his great grandchildren, Levi, Leah Sparks, Addyson and Jeremiah Nelson; and his sister Ruby Dillon of Eden, NC..
