He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Roney and Helen Coles Roney; and his siblings, Clensy Roney, James Roney, Ernest Roney, John Roney, Raymond Roney, Larry Roney, Pearline Robinson, Mary Otis Parker, Wilma Mabry and Glenice Jones.

He is survived by: his wife Georgia Roney; his children, Alton (Mary), Will A. (Gloria), Stewart, Donald (Erica), Cynthia Gale (Howard), Gwendolyn Goode, Bonita Griffin (Patrick), Connie Branch (James) and Felicia Ellis (Alphonso); his siblings, Donald Leon (Glovenia) and Thelma Bolling; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Roney, Valerie Roney Kathleen Cook and Katie Jones; and his granddaughter Lakesha Roney. He is also survived by 23 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
