He was predeceased by: his parents, Clem Batten and Agnes Batten of Carrollton; and his wife Nannie Marie Bailey Batten. He is survived by: his children, Palfus C. Batten, Jr. (Glenda) of Newport News, Tony E. Batten (Annie) of Sturgis Bay, WI, Paulette Batten of Newport News, Claudette Brown (Rufus) of Hampton, Agnes Thomas of Portsmouth, Saundra Jackson (Edward) of Fort Washington, MD, Marie Artis of Carrollton, Marcia Whitley of Carrollton, Geneen Jarvis (Carlton) of Carrollton and Deagra Small of Carrollton; and his siblings, Rev. Deloris Wooten of Carrollton, Mable Taliaferro of Carrollton and Dalton Batten Smithfield (Sylvia). He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
