He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Lynch and Sarah K. Lynch; his wife Annie D. Lynch; and his son Herbert "Tank" Lynch Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Joanne H. Lynch of Carrollton, VA; his son Richard A. Lynch (Linda); his grandchildren, Richard A. Lynch Jr. of Suffolk, VA and Carolann L. Justice (Ryan) of Ivor, VA; his great grandchild Paisleigh F. Justice; and his fiancée Tonia Sealey.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the C.E. & H. Ruritan Club in Eclipse, VA.
