It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frances Wise Mears of Carrollton, Virginia, born in Onley, Virginia, who passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Wise Killmon and Della Rae Mears Killmon (George Thomas Mears); her sisters, Mary Anne George and Sylvia Huffman; and her cousin Tillie Marshall.
She is survived by: her husband George Thomas Mears; her children, Yvonne Marie Lewis (Harry E. III) of Carrollton, Brenda Louise Thompson (Bob) of Woodstock, VA and Walter Thomas "Tommy" Mears of Portsmouth, VA; her grandchildren, Kelly Marie Allen (Ed), Angela Dawn Thompson and Harry E. Lewis IV (Kelly); and her great grandchildren, Dylan Allen, Emma Lewis and Alyssa Lewis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
