He was predeceased by: his parents, Ewell Ayers and Lucy Tate Ayers; his brother Richard Ayers; and his siblings-in-law, Charlie Mabe, Ted Collins, Dawn, Marcie and Bonnie Ayers.
He is survived by: his children, Heather Ayers, Amanda Ayers, Amy Riggins and Anthony Ayers (Cynthia); and his siblings, Betty Collins, Dot Vernon (Johnny), Christine Mabe, J. C. Ayers, Jimmy Ayers, Bobby Ayers, Troy Ayers (Ann), Clinton Ayers (Sandra), J. D. Ayers and Daniel Ayers (Shirley). He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
