He is survived by: his wife Catherine Gates; his children, Annette Lawson, Patsy (Tony Payne) and Dan; his daughter-in-law Mae Gates; his grandchildren, Rocky (Cassandra Gates), Amanda Wardwell (James), Michael (Tamika Lawson), Adam (Carrie Lawson), Ryan (Belle Jones) and Mason Gates; his sister Emily Easter (Verlie); his daughter-in-law Shelby Gates; his son Dale Gates; his son-in-law Brad Lawson; his brother-in-law Lawrence Easter; his brothers, Alvin (Janice Gates) and Charles (Peggy Gates); and his pet Cleetus. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
