He is survived by: his wife Janice Mattox Shelton; his children, Daphine Moore of Ringgold, VA and David Michael Shelton (Candice) of Pelham, NC; his sister Ruth Shelton Smith; his grandchildren, Jason Shelton (Brooklynn), Brooke Butts (Brandon), Kayla Hackworth (Josh), Wyatt Moore (Connie) and Adam Shelton; and his great grandchildren, Riley Butts, Hanna Hackworth and Carter Butts.
