It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Russell L. Coleman Sr. of Burkeville, Virginia, who passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Russell departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Russell may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Russell leaves behind.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leroy Coleman and Shirley Coleman; his wife Mildred Coleman; his brother Leroy; and his children, Donny Woodlin, Russell Coleman, Jr. (LaTosha), Daniel Woodlin (Robin), Darlana Moore, Dikaro Woodlin, DAndre Coleman (Audrey) and Danyal McCray. He was also cherished by siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the W. E. Hawkes and Son Funeral Home (504 East St, Blackstone, VA 23824). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Nottoway Middle School (5279 Old Nottoway Rd, Crewe, VA 23930).
