He was predeceased by : his parents, Edwin Carpenter and Viola Krinner Carpenter; and his brother-in-law George Jeffrey Tuggle. He is survived by : his wife Wendy Tuggle Carpenter; his son Edwin Dylan Carpenter; his parents-in-law, Brenda Tuggle and George Tuggle (Phyllis); his brother-in-law Realy Tuggle (Sabrina); his brother Daniel Carpenter (Mary); his stepbrothers, David Carpenter (Angel), Dale Carpenter, Don Carpenter (Terri) and Dennis Carpenter; his nieces, Natalie Cowan (Greg) and Kaitlyn Tuggle; his nephew Tyler Tuggle; his great-nephew Blake Cowan; and his close friends, Trampus Stanley, Chad Case, Jeff Pfeiffenberger, Michelle Robbins and Beth Brown.

A funeral service was held on Monday, June 17th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Secret Service Memorial. The military honors was held on Monday, June 17th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Quantico National Cemetery (18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172).
