He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton Jones and Lettie Estelle Jones; his stepdaughters, JoAnne Anderson and Linda Mallory; and his brother Deacon James Newton Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Lucy Jane Shelton; his stepdaughters, Isadore Jackson (James), Rev. Jane D. Ferguson and Carolyn S. Johnson (Aubrey); his grandchildren, James Cosby, Jr., Nicole Anderson (William), Christopher Mallory (Sonja) and Reginald Cosby, Sr. (Eugenia); his great grandchild DaVell Smith (Joy); his siblings, Pinetta Coleman and Rev. Walter Jones Sr.; his nieces and nephews, Michelle Green (Jerome), Brigette Christian (William), Elaine Jones, Patrick H. Jones (Alicia) and Walter Jones, Jr.; and his son-in-law Rev. William Mallory (Deloise). He is also survived by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
