He was predeceased by: his parents, John Grubbs and Lucille Grubbs; his brother J. D. Grubbs; and his nephew Douglas Grubbs, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Wanda; his children, April Keister (Daniel), Kelly Jones (Barry Jay) and Matthew Grubbs (Lindsay); his brother Douglas Grubbs (Jackie); and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Grubbs and Waverly Cutright. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren.
