He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Garner and Louise Tuck Garner; his wife Pearl Alice Coleman Garner; and his son Douglas Garner. He is survived by: his children, Fay Newton (James) of Buffalo Junction, VA, Carolyn Johnson of Durham, NC, Marie Perry (Cleveland) of Durham, NC, Demetris Garner of Durham, NC, Herbert Coleman (Shirley) of Buffalo Junction, VA, Glenn Garner (Donna) of Chester, PA and Bobbie Garner (Dee) of Chester, PA; his siblings, Harold Garner (Vera) of Roxboro, NC and Stella Venable (Clarence) of Clarksville, VA; and his siblings-in-law, Alfred J. Coleman (Edith) of Creedmoor, NC, Rev. Roger Coleman (Queen) of Buffalo Junction, VA and Frances Garner of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
