He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Howerton and Bessie Royster Howerton; his son James Conway Howerton; and his brothers, Willie "Lynn", Tommie "Tit" and William "Roy" Howerton.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Williams Howerton of Buffalo Junction, VA; his daughter Janice M. Williams of Union, NJ; his granddaughter Tabetha Simmons Higgins; and his sisters-in-law, Rebecca Williams, Tina Williams, Bernice Thompson and Marian Howerton.
