He was predeceased by: his parents, John Daniel Wood Sr. and Annie Warsing Wood Davis; his wife Wanda Waycaster Ownby Wood; the mother of his children Cecilia Newton Wood Branch; his siblings, George Brooke Wood, James Alexander Wood, Adelle Wood Cumby and Audrey Wood Smith; his son Kenneth Wayne Wood Sr.; and his grandson James R Wood.
He is survived by: his children, Gloria Wood Waycaster (Michael) of Dillwyn, John Daniel "Danny" Wood, III (Barbara) of Cartersville, James Roger "Jimmy" Wood of Dillwyn and Susan Wood Taylor (Steve) of Dillwyn; his stepson Dale Ownby (Victor Pena) of Powhatan; his siblings, Franklin Delano Wood (Betty), Anne Jamerson (Irving) and Joyce Edwards (John Larson); and his pet Blake. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grand children.
