He was predeceased by: his father Clifford A. Carter, Sr.; his brothers, Clifford Jr., Lee and Frank Carter; and his son Jonathan Matthew Carter.
He is survived by: his mother Hallie C. Carter,; his wife Brenda; his children, Meagan Gilliam (J. T.), Adam Carter (Ashley) and Ashley Carter (Jay); his grandchildren, Ben, Luke, Anne Kate Gilliam, Jake, Ryland, Isaac Carter and Everleigh Pierce; and his siblings, Pat Robertson, Betty Peterson (Charlie), Cindy Fagen (Tom), Paul Carter (Cindy) and Mike Carter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dunkum Funeral Home (16923 Oak St, Dillwyn, VA 23936). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (3808 Troublesome Creek Rd, Dillwyn, VA 23936). A burial was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery (3808 Troublesome Creek Rd, Dillwyn, VA 23936).
