He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Smith and Myrtle Smith; his wife Mary Lillian Smith; his daughter Lisa Branch; and his siblings, Shirley, Jessie, Paul, Irving, James, Jr., Luther and Lester (Thomas).
He is survived by: his daughter Heather Finley; his grandchildren, Jason Rose and Samantha Mertus; his stepdaughter Betty Wallace; and his brother Billy Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
