She was predeceased by: her parents, William Akers and Janie Akers (Hurley); her husband Sam Massey; her sons, Gary Akers, Timmie Akers and David Akers; and her son-in-law Bill Carter.
She is survived by: her children, Jimmy Larry Akers (Stephanie) of Huntington, IN, Brenda Kane of Long Beach, WA, Karen Carter-Boyd (Larry) of Grundy, VA, Tammy Dotson of Princeton, WV, Marlene Cochran of Bluefield, VA and Jean Ling (William) of Hurley, VA.. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and special nieces and nephews.
