With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jerry Matney of Buchanan, Virginia, who passed away on December 9, 2021 at the age of 67. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Matney and Edna Matney (Justus); and his siblings, Ira Matney, Herman Matney, Ray Matney, Carter Matney and Lorraine Matney Keen.
He is survived by: his children, Derick Shannon Matney of Grundy, VA, Shawn Matney (Heather) of Honaker, VA and Danny Ray Matney of Grundy, VA; his granddaughters, Katherine Grace "Katie" Matney and Maggie Emily "Emma" Matney; his siblings, Richard Matney (Jo) of Hurley, VA, Shirley Stacy (Monroe) of Grundy, VA, Geraldine Wilmer (Charles) of Grundy, VA, Christine Stacy of Grundy, VA and Wilma Blankenship of Hidden Night, NC; and his sister-in-law Carol Matney. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Face masks or coverings are strongly encouraged.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the funeral expenses for Jerry Matney.
