He was predeceased by: his parents, Granville Cecil and Marina Blanche Shortridge (Hooker); his brother Dennis Gene Shortridge; and his grandparents, Harve, Mary Jane Shortridge, Ballard Perry and Nina Grace Hooker.
He is survived by: his sons, Christopher James Shortridge of Vansant, VA and Michael Paul Shortridge (Kim) of Chilhowie, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
