He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Shortt and Gay Nell Shortt (Scott); his siblings, Virginia Shortt (Gin), Raymond Shortt, Robert J. Shortt (Bob) and John P. Shortt (Ann); and his brother-in-law Rex Spencer.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Shortt (Tonya), Robin Shortt Stacy, Amy Shortt Lunsford, Whitney Shortt Breeding (Willie) and Amanda Shortt; his sister Mary Ruth Shortt Spencer of Deel, VA; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Chase, Bryce, Bailey Shortt, Lindsay, Colton Lunsford, McKinnley Shortt, Henry and Oliver Breeding. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Deel Community Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 44, Oakwood, VA 24631.
